Welcome to the Folk Tale Wiki

Folk Tale is a sandbox fantasy citybuilder RPG game developed by Games Foundry in which you lead a ragtag band of peasants in growing a small settlement into a thriving market town, while dastardly minions plot your downfall. Sound the rallying call and head out into the wilds with parties of heroes to fight back the tide of evil in a game of endless possibilities. Rule with tyranny and oppression, or liberalism and justice. Play as a merciless expansionist hell-bent on destruction, or as a gold-hoarding mercantilist who'll sell their own grandmother. With random events and dynamic story, in Folk Tale you never know how the story will unfold.

Players are comparing Folk Tale with Warcraft 3, The Settlers, Banished, The Guild 2, Majesty 2 and Black and White 2. Folk Tale is not a pure play role-playing game such as Pillars Of Eternity, and adopts more of a MOBA approach to hero abilities than a CRPG. Folk Tale is on Steam Early Access, which means it's still very much in development. By purchasing it, you will be contributing towards expanding the development team (currently 8 full-time developers), and joining an active community who's feedback helps shape and improve the game with your own feedback. You can get involved with the game's development on the Forums and check out what's coming next in the development Roadmap.
